Sir Froderick x Loverazor (video)
This is the dopest video concept of love I’ve seen all summer. “Loverazor” is off Sir Froderick’s debut album Heartaches and Heartbreaks on Record Breakin’ Music. This video was directed by OneiRose and it captures the essence of the song using his mysterious origins as an artist. Sir Froderick is known as ” The Alchemist of or musical MacGyver”. His debut album is complete with his rollercoaster ride of emotions with relationships. Check out the short video and tell me what you think. Is love like a razor?

Review: Best of the Bay 2010 Party
East Bay Express hosted its yearly “Best of The Bay” 2010 East Bay edition festival along the Jack London Square waterfront in Oakland, Ca. on August 6, 2010. For those of you unfamiliar of the Best of the Bay, every year the Bay Area readers and editorials vote on the best everything, from Restaurants to small business, and even nightlife and wineries.
This year there were over 71,000 voters that produced this year’s “2010 Best of the BayList”. It was the perfect Friday evening for over 15,000 Oaklanders to enjoy ethnic foods and a variety of activities that presented the best of the East Bay. Attendees gathered on this Friday night to view live painting and graffiti art galleries, Dance Competitions, fencing, and Blues bands to entertain the eclectic crowd who came out to support the Best of the Bay. Oakland’s own, Goapole made an appearance as one of the judges for the B-Boy contest that accumulated this biggest crowd at the main stage that I was unable to see for myself with my tippy toes.
The best part of the festival were the many food vendors. The festival brought you different types of the best ethnic foods such as Mexican, African, Jewish, and even soul food Vegan, which gives our Bay Area taste some diversity. From 5-11 p.m I was able to enjoy live bands and interactive music that was sponsored by Amoeba Music and the Bay Area Blues Society. Oakland showed love and showed out for this successful event. If you missed it, better come out next time!

Miles Brandon x Mile High Club
If you are into Hip Hop a name that you must remember aside from Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Jay Z is the up and coming aspiring music artist and producer, Miles Brandon. This Oakland native is coming full force with a duo combination, talent, style, and versatility. Miles started his interest with a love of poetry at the age of 13 years old, where he grew up to discover that his passion was in Hip Hop. By taking spin offs from his name, he produced a few mixtapes with his current one “Mile High Club” that has been released this summer. He writes, produces, and raps about his voyage and his determination to elevate one’s mind in society’s growing music culture. The song “Overdose on Love” derives from the relationship woes with his girlfriend. By mixing party songs and strong messages, Miles designed a versatile mixtape that all Hip Hop heads could agree with.
The different tone and structures in creating his own beats is what makes him stand out amongst the many aspiring to reach the top. When asking about his latest mixtape he says, “You should never feel to settled, which is why I am ready to do even better than before.” By having that mindset to perfect every song, Miles Brandon encourages anyone else aspiring in his field to bring the most presentable and sound bound music that you can create. In my opinion he reeks originality in more ways then one.
What makes Miles Brandon standout? Creativity; Not only is it from within but it’s shown on the outside as well. With a love of shopping and fashion, Miles makes sure to keeps his threads fly inside and outside of the studio. With his 80’s influenced style and his Hip Hop inspired creativity, Miles Brandon “Mile High Club” is what needs to be leaking through your speakers.

Afro Chic’s Pick: Bee Mine Products
Like every week I wash, condition, and style my hair so that it will look fresh and well kept but this week I decided to try new products and was given a slightly different and pleasing results. Thanks to Bee Mine Products for sponsoring the site, I was given the opportunity to try 3 new products from the line which are 100& Organic products specializing in hair growth. They come in sprays, conditioners, shampoos, hair butter, and more. They smell of sweet candy and feel nice and soft on your natural or even chemical tresses. The products used on my hair were “Bee Hold Curly Butter”, “Deja’s Hair Milk”, and “Avocado cream balanced conditioner”.
Here’s brief discriptions of each given to me by Tracey of http://www.beemineproducts.com:
Bee Hold Curly Butter – It’s a very versatile product because it gives a light hold as well as moisturizes the hair. You can use Bee Hold Curly Butter to lay down unruly hair be it natural or permed. Use it for twists, flat twists, puffs, rod sets (permed & natural) twist & curl, etc.
Deja’s Hair Milk – Has very versatile uses in it detangles, conditions, moisturizes the hair and when used daily can be used as a daily leave in. It has no protein so those that like the fact that it’s protein free will love the rich thick moisturizing effects of Deja’s Hair Milk.
Avocado Cream Balanced Conditioner – Is a light protein and moisturizing conditioner. Very moisturizing and does have a light protein balance that nourishes the hair without weighing it down. Those that are protein sensitive should not use ACBC as a daily co-wash due to the fact that it does have a mild protein in it. Those that use it have experienced a wonderful change in the condition of their hair.
I have been SO ANXIOUS to try them out so here’s how it went:
I washed my hair with my own shampoo and then used a generous amount of the Avocado balanced conditioner to devour my hair, the smell instantly took my breathe away. After about 3 mins I rinsed my hair using a detangling comb and towel dried it. Since my hair LOVES moisture I based my hair with the Bee Hold Curly butter before I used the product to do my twist-outs. (I also used a tiny bit of murray’s lock gel, just for extra hold). I sat under the dryer for 30 mins.
When I woke up in the morning, I fingered through my twist outs with Deja’s Hair Milk which gave it extra shine. Results? I cant stop touching and smelling my hair all day, not to mention the fluffy bouncy-ness (is that a word?) it gave to my walk. I’d like to say that my hair has a mind of its own and will probably look totally different tomorrow, but I am sure I will starty using Bee Mine products if not daily but on a monthly basis. Thank You Bee Mine Products for making my hair look and feel GREAT!

Janelle Monae x Cold War (Music Video)

This one one of my favorite songs on her latest album, and this video bring so much emotion that it almost brought me to tears. The constant ball of proofing a point in what’s an ongoing cold war. She really shines as an artist, I hope that you understand it as well. Tell me what you think?

Joonie x Acoustic Love
The soul singer Joonie is not a new face to me, seeing his music on many other aspiring artists sites it was only right to let you guys here his hit sing “So Fly”. This North Carolina native, Calvin “Joonie” Gary, Jr. not only gives R&B its soul but has that warm feeling to his voice that makes his many octives enjoyable in your speakers. Discovered by producer and rapper Warren G, Joonie got his first label deal by the age of 21. Continuing his journey to becoming even more successful he worked behind the scenes as a self taught pianist, guitarist, and songwriter. This past April, He debuted his album “Acoustic Love” which is a steady compilation of love, relationships, and the appreciation of women. I find this independent artist to be at the forefront of REAL music. Check out his single “So Fly” and support him as an artist with his latest album available on iTunes.
