John Legend and The Roots with Melanie Fiona and Common, did a remake of “Wake Up Everybody” Originally by Harold Melvin. I love this song because my mother used to play it every morning when it was time to go to school and it would always play on KBLX in the bay area every morning. Just listen to the lyrics, it has a lot of significance today. Enjoy!

The Bots x Stop
These kids are so adorable. The Bots are these two boys, Mikaiah Lei (17) and Anaiah Lei (13) who sure to be out the bieber craze with their up and coming rock band. With Mikaiah on the guitar and vocals and Anaiah on the drums together they make a tough dynamic duo in punk rock culture. Check out these hit song “Stop” which will be played all over the country as the youngest boys band to perform with the Warped Tour. P.S. you don’t have to be a pre-teen to rock out to this aggressive/expressive band!

I was watching VH1 Soul last night and came across Rebbie Jackson’s video for “Centipede”. At first I thought it was Janet but sure enough after I seen her lack of rythmn it had to be Rebbie. Joonie x Acoustic Love
The soul singer Joonie is not a new face to me, seeing his music on many other aspiring artists sites it was only right to let you guys here his hit sing “So Fly”. This North Carolina native, Calvin “Joonie” Gary, Jr. not only gives R&B its soul but has that warm feeling to his voice that makes his many octives enjoyable in your speakers. Discovered by producer and rapper Warren G, Joonie got his first label deal by the age of 21. Continuing his journey to becoming even more successful he worked behind the scenes as a self taught pianist, guitarist, and songwriter. This past April, He debuted his album “Acoustic Love” which is a steady compilation of love, relationships, and the appreciation of women. I find this independent artist to be at the forefront of REAL music. Check out his single “So Fly” and support him as an artist with his latest album available on iTunes.
Christina Aguilera – You Lost Me
This is one of my favorite slow songs on Christina Aguilera’s latest album “Bionic” she is always a sucker for that deep stuff so I’m sure someone can relate. Check out “You Lost Me”.

Chad D. Smith x His Feminine Inspiration
I’d like to say that Chad D. Smith is one of the most creative photographers I’ve met, but that would be an understatement. One of the pluses of taking creative classes in college was meeting people that inspire you through many aspects, I like to write and he loves to create art. Chad claims he’s been doing photography for 3 years but it looks like trial and error has paid off. He is currently doing freelance with a graphic designer, Mark Stewart where he creates images with a fashion inspiration. They are currently working on a series of pieces with the influence of Patrick Nagel during his reign of the 80’s era. “My heart beats independently with art,” he explains to me as he shares that his inspirations derive from his personal experience with WOMEN. It’s not often you find a male artist that has creatively designed his materials around the female race. Whether it is his past relationships or looking his perfect muse, Chad defined his own artistic style.
Solange DJ’s at PST Yoshi’s SF
Just to highlight, every time I go to PST Live in San Francisco at Yoshi’s Jazz Club, I always have a good time. The eclectic crowd and hip-hop music always seems to bring me back for events. This time I had the pleasure to stand front row and see Solange with her own live DJ set debut. Although I’m not big on celebrity DJ’s she did bring it with the soul. I was more fascinated with her lipstick, stockings, heeled sandals, and faux fro then her “mixing” and “mastering” of the DJ booth. I love the Knowles girls for many different reasons and I am so proud of what Solange has become these days, such a contrast from her dominate big sister. After Bionca’s dinner at 1300 on Fillmore, a black owned high end restaurant, we trickled our way to Yoshi’s to enjoy an evening of Tokyo Teas and dancing. That my friends, was my friday night.
