Ocho Cinco and the No Black Girls Rule

I AM NOT SURPISED!!!! After reading the email that one of his contestants put out to many websites I have already made up my mind that OchoCinco did in fact not want any black girls on his dating reality show that he is currently filming.  Contestants are saying and producers are agreeing that he doesn’t like black girls on there.  It seems like it’s always the darkest most chocolatest brothas that want to exclude women that look like their own mother smh.  Supposedly This chick made it to be one of the top ladies and was traded in for more hispanic and white girls to be added to the show.  Take a peak at the email taken from www.theybf.com :

I am an avid reader of YBF and was recently selected as one of the final 85 for Chad’s )OchoCinco) dating reality show. Long story short, Chad has identity issues and primarily chose Latinas and white girls (mostly brunette’s). Many of the black girls were eliminated right off the back (including Rabbit from Real Chance of Love)<– might I add Cali made a cameo as well. I managed to make top 30 before getting eliminated.

The entire day was unorganized and Chad only wanted to do things his way; he wouldn’t listen to producers and all selections were made by him only. In the beginning Chad walked the field and immediately began to dismiss girls, he later called a group of ten girls (including myself) up to the front and told us to “not worry you’re not going anywhere..” Shortly after he directed us to do a quick warm up lap (at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA). This warm up lap turned into chaos, lap after lap producer’s were unsure of what to do next so they directed girls to keep running. Luckily, I stay with a personal trainer, so I ran a total of 6 laps before I stopped for water. Some girls began to hyperventalate, while others began to walk. One by one, Chad starting pulling black girls aside and telling them “bye.” During my stop for a cup of water, Chad called me over along with a group of six girls; 5 black and 1 white. He then said “umm… you guys are eliminated… uh.. yea–yea eliminated–Except for you.” And guess who he pulled out the group? The white girl.

Long story short, Chad is intimidated by a successful black woman. And this so-called competition definitely wasn’t based off of looks or class. **I’m Just Sayin**

Just wanted to give you the scoop.

P.S. I am a YBF chick of Carribean decent.

So is this just an angry black female mad that she was picked over a girl of another race? Possibly.  But I am not suprised at all that OchoCinco is going to pick a non-black girl in the end.  Identity issues or not his whole made up perception on being colorblind is a flop and he draws dissapointment because I did believe he was a true brotha trying to make a good name for himself.  I’ll be honest and say he was in my top 10 sexiest men.  And I realize he wants good ratings, so in the end a successful black woman would only be intimdation to the other ladies and “boredom” doesn’t need to be on that kind of dating show anyways.  When reality sets in he will realize his faults, and it will be too late.  He should’ve never did a stupid show like this, love on a show? FAKE!  Please someone tell me what Reality Dating TV show was successful and tastefully done? It hasn’t. Because tasteful people don’t do mess like that. I’m done.

Drake’s “Thank Me Later” leaks Disappointment

Now you know I had to put my two cents in about this one, Drake’s new album Thank Me Later” was leaked the other night and to tell you the truth I wasn’t in a rush to download it.  It seems be a trend that in this mixtape generation, popular artists are making these leaks very hard to get certain revenue off their music; and let’s not forget local artists who just have a dollar and dream.  I am NOT a fan of Drake, but I will say I watched me some wheelchair Jimmy in my day and he is talented.

Drake has acquired his fame from a previous career in acting, and that’s what I feel got him to be this big.  With no stage presence he happens to get past “So Far Gone” to “Thank Me Later”.  The only songs that stood out to me were Fireworks featuring the preggers Alicia Keyes. With her on the Keyes this is phenomenal piece that has definitely made it to my feels good playlist.  Shut it Down featuring The Dream is pretty sexy to me, if you listen to the instrumental part it adds a lil’ twist to his sound.  Noooo…this doesn’t mean Drake is finally growing on me, I just seem to love his slow songs better.  Last but not least Find Your Love is catchy to me, it’s on the radio every 30 minutes but I do find it a better hit then all the rest.  There you have, the Afro Chic doesn’t quite approve but all you Drake fans go support the brutha when it officially hit stores, according to the title he will thank you later!

Lady Gaga on Larry King Live

Lady Gaga was interviewed last night on CNN’s Larry King Live and she opened up quite well to Larry about her personal issues, fans, and even Michael Jackson. I remember her talking about her resemblence to Madonna and I couldn’t agree with her more. What hit home for me was the question about Lupus? She was recently tested for it and her fans wrote in to ask her if she has it? This was here answer.

She also gave sneak peaks to her upcoming music video to “Alejandro” which covers issues on the gay community, their strength and everything they’ve been through.  Look out soon for the premiere 🙂

Kimberly Nichole- Rage in Harlem 2

It’s natural songstress Kimberly Nichole and new released song called “Rage in Harlem 2”. This Seattle Native that is taking on New York City venues by force, eluring her audiences and local fans with acoustic, and alternative vocals.  Her debut ablum “The Yellow Brick Journey” in 2009 was a very up tempo and rock compilation but she’s on to even bigger and better things. check out her lastest single, and tell me what you think? Oh yeah, did I mention she’s natural? BOSS!

Afro Chic’s Pick: J Myers

My Photos | Photo By: Laura Davis | J Myers

I’m a bit behind on the music in the Bay Area, but I was recently put on to J Myers and I’m pretty excited.  This Hayward Native, has been in the game for awhile and his raspy and soulful voice shows that he is the next musical inspiration of our generation.  He plays guitar, sings, and raps, what more can a true Hip Hop lover ask for?  You can also find him at MondaySoul so come out and support. Check out his single “I Give You My Soul” and tell me what you think 🙂

MondaySoul with “London”

Last night I attended New Parrish’s “Monday Soul”, a lounge where young bay area artists showcase their talent in front of respectful crowd.  My four years of absence from the bay area have brought me hard to believe how much musical talent has progressed over the years.  I was never into the “Hyphy Movement” so I’m glad R&B and true hip-hop artists are becoming the forefront of our Area. The performer that stood out to me the most and reminded me of a better looking “Kid Kudi” was the artist London.

London, formally known as Noel Franklin Jr. is an Oakland native that started to discover his musical talent as a child in the church.  After going away to college in Atlanta, he became very successful in the music industry and landed a deal with Key Players Music Label.  As he performed last night, I noticed how he rocked the crowd with a bay area swagger like no other. Swaying side to side on the stage and interacting with the audience, you could tell he owned the stage.  London’s hit single “Action” amongst many other songs have a R&B, hip hop, and soultry sound that catches your ears and your heart.  His new video for “Back to the Way” addresses relationships that we are all common with these days. To be honest,  I’m just ready for him to REALLY take off! Check out the video, links, and his mixtapes and tell me what you think!
