Seph Ade x Love Acoustically (EP)

With Valentine’s day being around the corner, some may be avoiding the love in the air but I seem to embrace it.  I came across an artist out of Maryland, Seph Ade who may change your mind about this often hated holiday. After listening to his EP “Love Acoustically” I found my love for music tickled by this beautiful talent. The EP was release late December of 2010 and has been quite the buzz around the Maryland area.  Seph Ade uses his acoustically abilities and his soft voice to serenade your emotions and leave you with a feeling of desire whether you are in love or looking for it.  I thought I’d share his talent with you, in hopes to make your week worth while.

Album Review: Let Freedom Reign x Chrisette Michelle

I’ve boycotted album reviews for a while now, but I had to give my girl Chrisette Michelle that respect she deserves.  Her album debuted, Tuesday, November 30th and I absolutely fell in love again with her voice, look, and confidence.  I’ve been a fan since the beginning and although I’ve heard a lot of her songs over the weeks I was pleased about how her album flowed on this cold November.

She gave ambitious women a bit of inspiration with “Number One” which I felt should be her next single. Lyrics exemplified a hard-working women being her one and only and loving oneself before anyone else.  Chrisette has the ability to show her emotion through her dynamic voice range and its shown through “Goodbye Game” and “If Nobody Sang Along”. If I were to close my eyes I could picture visually how passionate she was about putting together these songs and because I can relate them to my own real life situations.  She touches on being able to have her voice heard as an artist, and that could go a lot of ways with an individual who experiences freedom of expression. (You know those music videos where the girls is spending around and around in an open field with not a care in the world? yep that’s me right now lol) The song “Unsaid” has one of the best musical instruments,  I love the guitar and the lingering effects kind of made me feel like I was in live concert.

Overall, I really appreciate Chrisette Michelle as an artist who has evolved over the years, everyone loves her and no matter how famous you think you are or regular you want to be you will relate to her music.  Go get her album today, I dare you to prove me wrong!

Les Nubians- Liberté

I woke up this morning feeling like death but after downloading Les Nubians new single “Liberte” I am no longer complaining and feel more “liberated” then yesterday. Just a little background; “liberte” was the names of the national anthem of Guinea which means “Liberty”. Les Nubians are currently on tour where they stopped in my area, Oakland Ca. at Yoshi’s. Although it wasn’t 1998 for me, I remember their introduction into the world with their hit single “Makeda” which was a big eye opener for the US after other African artists like Fela who paved the way for the exposure of African Music worldwide. You can check out their website http://www.lesnubians.com for the exclusive downloads, tour dates, and more!

Willow Smith x Whip My Hair

I was not going to entertain this song, but “I Whip My Hair” is kinda thumpin’ my speakers right now.  Willow sounds like she’s 20 and I’m sure there is plenty of auto-tune but it’s still cute. If only I was in my pre-teens this could be my anthem.  Like it?

“I whip my back and forth!”
