The Black Ivy x Street Etiquette

Photo Courtesy of Street Etiquette Website

The “Young, Gifted, and Black” is a beautiful thing in society today.  I’ve noticed a buzz this week about “Black Ivy” which is an editorial video done by http://www.streetetiquette.com illustrating the prep fashion that is so common amongst Historically Black Colleges and University. And as an Hampton Alumna, I would know this fashion style pretty well. Street Etiquette is a fashion and style blog owned by Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs of New York.  When you watch the video take not of the different faces of black men on a college campus.  They covered the books, the sports, and the looks quite well. I just love short films and black men especially.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

FASHIZBLACK Sept/Oct Issue: Solange Knowles

Solange Knowles graces the cover of FASHIZBLACK September/October issue this year and she is rockin’ that faux fro like no other.  This magazine is pretty dope, after viewing the layout online, I am pleased with the features on Africa Fashion Week. It’s not so often you get a spread on Cape Town or Dakar. Nonetheless, Solange seems to embrace her afrocentric side well so I approve.

Afro Chic’s Fall Picks: 16 Stone Vintage

Evans Plus Size Clothing Brings Trendy to Fall

I was so syked to come across this international clothing line designed specifically for the trendy plus size.  I couldn’t help but share it with my fellow curvy divas because I know that although designers are trying, we are still limited. Not to mention, Tocarra Jones, who is one of my favorite models apart of their new campaign.  So this is another reason for us not to have to squeeze into barely there junior sections! HA!  Need I say more, visit the website Here and indulge into some back to school shopping.

Here are a few pieces I picked out but there is so much more to choose from; accessories, shoes, dresses, tops, tunics, pants etc.

N’Art Designs “I Love Afro Boyz”

When it comes to showing my love for my brothas, especially the ones who rock naturals and locks, N’Art Designs has the cutest slogan t-shirts for me to express that.  Check out the online store http://nart.spreadshirt.com/ for t-shirts expressing naturality and the love for the brothas. Kudos to the owner Artaska Perry for her creativity. Rock it or Knock it?

Congratulations to Gabi Gregg on winning the MTV Twitter Jockey Challenge tonite!  Not only is she the newest face of MTV but she is also representing for all the Plus-Size young women in the media.  This media mogul who writes for her blog http://www.youngfatandfabulous.com won all 3 challenges tonite on the show where she was crowned the BEST! I am so excited that she has this opportunity to be the curvy face as MTV TJ.  Although this may be alot of pressure I know and so do all of her followers, that she is the best fit for this position.  I am so jealous she gets to attend and tweet everything MTV but I wouldn’t want anyone else to win (besides myself).  Be sure to follower her now at @mtvtj for all the latest on what’s happening with MTV.

African Jewelry x Anita Quansah Inspired

I absolutely love the accessory line from African Fashion designer, Anita Quansah.  The chunky neck jewelry that are African inspired are definitely what’s hot right now.  Anita is a textile designer that specialized in 3-dimensional fabrics and accessories.  If you notice, they are all nature inspired which really makes her stand out as an artist.

Saks Fifth Avenue Goes Plus Size

I have always loved to window shop in Saks Fifth Avenue knowing good and well that I could barely fit their sizes, but those days are over because they will soon be adding plus size womens wear with designer labels like Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna.    This fall, Saks in Manhattan, NY will be previewing their fall collections with sizes up to 20.  Although these piece will be available there will definitely be no bargains but I am so glad that plus size is on the come up.  Fashion are finally realizing that the “normal” sizes are what makes your market.
