Georgia native, Nikyatu S. Jusu is an aspiring filmmaker that I discovered as I scimmed my Crisis magazine. Nikyatu operates in Brooklyn, N.Y. where she produces her shortfilms “African Booty Scratcher”, “Youthenasia”, and “Say Grace Before Drowning” which is her current project that has been shot already in Georgia. Nikyatu attended Duke University to study Engineering but than found a passion for the film and arts. Upon graduation she won the Most Promising Filmmaking Award and continued her studies at NYU in the prestigous film program.
Nikyatu Jusu is known for her shortfilm that priemered at the Pan African Film Festival in 2007 entitled “African Booty Scratcher”. The film discussed coming of age, West African Traditions, and American Idealism. Check out the Video link below for yourself!

Ever since I got my filmmaking 101 class last semester, I have found a passion for film. I currently have two short films that I co-produced under my belt and I hope to one day expand my collection just like Nikyatu.
