Enough has been said, check out the new hit single “Russian Roulette”- I bet you she sang from the heart with this one.  Not to go off subject but did you know that Russian Roulette is a lethal game of chance, where you put the gun to your opponent’s head? hmmmmm…listen to it and tell me what you think.

The Winter Shampoo

The humidity has officially left us and it’s time to figure out how we are going to keep our moisturized.  I have the pleasure of re-introducing you to Optimum Care Oil Therapy: Ultimate Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner.   I was asked a few times these past couple of weeks of what I use to wash my hair in the winter-time and I can only recommend what works best for my natural dry hair.

Soft Sheen Carson are very good products that you can find at any store that has a “black hair” section. Honestly, you don’t have to order online and seek a bunch of organic material just to find shampoo that will feel your natural hair. Hope it works for ya 🙂

Young, Pregnant, and on the Cover of Teen Vogue?

British Model Jourdan Dunn (left) and her collegue Chanel Iman are working this new cover of the November issue in many ways possible.  Not only are they black, but Jourdan is PREGNANT.  This is a pretty big deal because they are two very successful black women to be able to share the cover of a teen magazine.  I don’t think there is anything wrong with being on the cover pregnant because on her very slender body, Jourdan doesn’t show that much.  The editors must really wanted them on the cover of the November issue really bad to bypass the fact that she is a young, single, and pregant model.  I commend Teen Vogue for their Bold move, keep it up let’s keep this world going.

p.s. Jourdan is 19 years old and expecting to give birth in December

Love or Lust?

I mean, maybe it’s real love. I wanted to wait a couple weeks before I hit this couple because I just didnt think it was possible.  Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardasian tying the knot after just after few weeks? Amazing.  In this situation I am rooting for Khloe, because I have been following her and she hasn’t had the best of luck with men in her life.  She probably found something really special in Lamar and didn’t want to let that go.  It’s not unusual for a Kardasian to lockdown a a black man, and clearly what black man will run from a Kardasian? Exactly.  I wish them the best of luck in their marriage and hope it gets past a year. oh and no kids.

Twist Outs with Miss Jessie’s

I have been looking for a product to do my twist-outs with and I think this is the one.  It doesnt beat kinky-curly but when it comes to a wash and twist, you are good to go.

My Simple Steps:

1. Wash and condition your hair really well.  Comb through your tangles under running water to reduce breakage and save time.

2. towel dry hair and section off your hair into four sections

3. Use a rat tooth comb to section small pieces of your hair to two-strand twist.  Place a dime sized amount onto your fingers and smoth it on the small section then two-strand twist. Repeat until you finish the whole head.

p.s. you might want to re-wet your hair from time to time to lock in moisture.

Lastly, when your hair is completely dry you unravel each twists and style.

Miss Hampton University Pulls the Race Card

many have asked for days now how I felt about Miss Hampton Univesity of 2009-2010, and your answers is this.

DSC02251

yes, she’s white and she represents Hampton University….

I was amongst the very few people that attended the Miss Hampton Univeristy pagaent on friday, October 9th, 2009 and when they announced the winner to be Nikole Churchill, I didn’t scream. I didn’t cuss. Nor did I storm out, but stood there in complete shock  but not disbelief.  I knew in the back of my mind when seeing the contestants earlier in the week that this pagaent was going to make history, one way or the other.

While many are blaming her, I am blaming the judges and whoever is under this committee into picking Miss Hampton.  Honestly, I feel that her presence in pagaentry was not in comparison to the other contestant that graces the stage with her.  Yes, she is a student of Hampton University on the Virginia Beach Campus, but I have not seen her at all on this campus.  No campus involvement, no community service, no organizations on this campus. I mean, she’s a senior like me, she could’ve at least attended a few senior socials or something.  But the fact of the matter is, she is NOT the representation of Hampton University. Regardless if the title has nothing to do with representing just the next step to Miss Virginia, it is not fair to the other contestants that have been involved for numerous years with their school and have already engrossed themselves in its rich culture.

Now for the race part. You can’t hide it, no one can.  And let’s not compare this to Obama, because Obama is black and he is in the opressed race, which is like myself.  Nikole will never know how it feels to be black and writing a letter to President Obama about racial issue that she recieved from a black institution shows no relation. Yeah, I feel sorry for her. But what did she expect? Get over it. As a black woman I will always be overlooked when I’m going against a white women cause everyone plays the race card, and not to mention that I have nappy hair tops it off, HU will not approve LoL but anyways, HBCU’s are the only institutions that are privately funded and designed for African-Americans to seek an opportunity to feel comfortable in their own skin and to get an education that we deserve, equal and fair.  By a white woman, taking the crown is pretty much a slap in our faces.  I am not suprised that she won because leave it Hampton University to always want to “diversify’ and uphold an image that steers faaaaaaaar away from black. If you can’t go bright, then go WHITE. (comic relief: laugh, thanks.)

Black people can’t ever just have what was ours, our music, our culture, and now even our schools.  Were still oppressed and Hampton University’s new “Diversity Political Move” doesn’t help either.

National Poetry Day

In lue of National Poetry Day…I’m just going to spit a lil sumthin sumthin for yall…

I gotta a mesmerizing mind that will only leave your own thoughts left to unwind

the secret of my tales are only for the wise that can prevail

what is it to me, what life means to me, what you are inside of me

Let you wonder where I get it from, or let you taste what it should be

They wouldve Couldve Shouldve mindset will only get you half of what you need

but I know what I want and I know what I need so I get the whole of what I preach.
