Big Boi’s “ShutterBug”

I have always had a music crush on Big Boi and he’s definitely back with his new video “Shutterbug”. It’s his first single off his debut solo album “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” which is set to be released in July 2010.  This video is so crazy and spontaneous, it makes my heart warm to see a difference in music creativity besides all the sex and club scenes, Big Boi gave us a break on this one. Afro Chic approves, tell me what you think! Enjoy!

“Sex and the City 2”: The Afro Chic’s Non-Spoiler

No this is NOT a spoiler review but I will say that just like most sequels, “Sex and the City 2” has hurt my soul.  I am hoping that there is another sequel that I don’t know about or I’m going back to watching the re-runs.  It’s funny to me how Carrie Bradshaw was the same in her ways in the movie, and gets away with it.  Pretty unrealistic if you ask me.

Ladies all over the world, flooded movie theatres at exactly 12:01 a.m. with their cosmos, stilettos, dresses and girlfriends.  I stayed up all night just to be slightly dissapointed from the plot line.  But don’t get me wrong the fashion was to die for, who else lounges around their house as if they are on the runway for New York Fashion Week.  It makes me want to go shopping, Thank Goodness for Labor Day Weekend!

Overrall, If you are going to see “Sex and the City 2” for a sequel just hold out until later or don’t get your hopes up because the one that get’s the most action is Samantha Jones; all the other drama could’ve been saved in possible episode series.

Afro Chic’s Pic: Trey Songz “Yo Side of the Bed”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been emotional over a music video but Trey Songz did it to me.  Just released from “Yo Side of the Bed” plays a little tribute to the families and couples in the military and the trails and heartache that one can have from it.  It will definitely give some waterworks and make you think about your own relationships.  Enjoy!

Jennifer is Weight-Loss Amazing!

The newest Weight Watchers Spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson has lost a tremendous amount of weight and looks so great! I think she is at a great size 6 and appears to be healthy.  Even though she was intending to lose weight for a movie role, it turned out to be a great lifestyle change for her.

Hudson shares her weight loss story and tips in the latest People’s magazine with awesome pictures as evidence that anyone can lose the weight.  She has officially motivated me this summer to get off the couch and change my life. The Afro Chic approves!

Video Drop: Chris Breezy “Bullshit”

Chris Brown’s just released a music video to “No Bullshit” today and honey it’s buzzin all over the internet.  I love the concept because many can relate to those late night club get-ups but ummmm….when I think of Chris I think of a teenager, still. I know he’s been tried as an adult but just like bowwow and all those other kid stars I find it weird to me when they talk about sex and grow up, kind of like a big sister. The video is hot and so is he so enjoy!

Afro Chic’ Picks: #MusicMonday

Christian Aguilera is back and she just had to bring it with Nikki Minaj, I am not mad at all.  Her new song “WooHoo” is so catchy I couldn’t stop dancing in the mirror, definitely a lady club banger.

Too much like Wright?

I went to go see “Just Wright” starring Common, Paula Patton, and Queen Latifah on opening night and caught myself predicting every scene.  I loved the concept of the movie, the gorgeous cousin gets the basketball player, then the diamond in the rough stills him away and they fall madly in love, on accident.  It’s cute to me, but I feel that the sexy and talented artist Common just didn’t fit the role.  He wasn’t aggressive enough for me, I wanted more from him and I just didn’t get it.  Some music artists are fit for the acting in Hollywood.  So as the Afro Chic, I’d give this movie a B.  Go check it out for yourself, but if you aren’t a die hard Common fan I’d catch it on redbox.

XXXO- M.I.A

She’s baaaaaack! But she never left in my heart.  With this whole comparison between M.I.A and Lady Gaga to be honest I see none at all.  They are both unique and different, that’s my only comparison. And can you say fashion moguls?  M.I.A just released her first single “XXXO” to her upcoming third album.  This Sri-Lankan artist is continuing with her signature sound but giving us a more flirty edge.  Take a listen!

Why Don’t You Love Me?

The queen of writing every girl’s anthems, Beyonce, takes a backseat as her sister Solange writes the song “Why Don’t You Love Me” and releases the video on twitter for all her fans to see.  Of course Beyonce is taking a break, however, whether she’s in the studio or not you will not forget about this diva.  If you haven’t already here is the 50’s inspired music video to “Why Don’t You Love Me”.

Black Quaduplets amitted to Yale

As I complete my tenure year at what I feel like HU is the “black IV league”, Yale University recently admitted Connecticut Quadruplets Kenny, Martina, Ray, and Carol Crouch into the school this coming fall semester.  They are known to be the first set of BLACK quaduplets accepted to an IV league college.  So what is the big deal?  Of course this is a great moment for their family but it is also an achievement for the black community.  Young black men and women are getting a well deserved education and it should be praised! I commend these siblings for collectively getting into one of the top colleges in the country. It’s not everyday you find four brothers and sisters that look exactly alike getting into Yale! BLACK POWER AT ITS BEST!
