Shout out to Simply Cyn for putting me on to this Tennessee native, Valerie June. I rarely dibble dabble in folk and country music beyond the mainstream but I know when to give props to an artist that is good at their craft. Her unique style is infused with folk, country, and a little bit of gospel. Not to mention, her accent is adorable.
“I feel like my whole life I’ve always had a stone I’ve been pushing,” she says, explaining the record’s title. “Some days it’s a good thing to have, like a best friend, and sometimes it’s your worst enemy. In the case of this record, I had so many friends helping me move the stone.”
Her album just hit stores today so take a listen (on Spotify if you wish) and tell me what you think ?
